Reflections of Buenos Aires, AR

A few months ago, I jetsetted to the magical city of Buenos Aires to indulge in new experiences, culture, amazing food (I mean seriously, some of the best dishes I’ve had in my lifetime), and of course, lots and lots of Argentinian wine.

This trip was a bit of a milestone for me, as I went it alone. It’s always been a goal of mine to do this — to separate myself COMPLETELY from the familiar and channel that independent lady spirit that Julia Roberts made so attractive in Eat, Prey, Love or that Angela Bassett made so damn sexy in How Stella Got Her Groove Back.  Um, it didn’t go entirely like any of the above movies — not entirely — but needless to say, it was a TRIP. A 12-day trip of feeling every non-chemically-enhanced emotion from excitement, to fear, to bravery, to loneliness, to giddiness, to infatuation, to complete and utter AWE.  It was unforgettable.

While dining at a sushi restaurant my second night in, I met two men from Lady Gaga’s stage crew who were in town for a major concert of hers.  After trading details about how the heck we all ended up in a crappy sushi restaurant in the middle-of-nowhere BA, one of the gentleman said in regards to my adventure:  “Now here’s a woman with a story to tell.”  This made me smile inside. Whatever second-guessing I had done or apprehensions I had felt about trekking through another country by myself disappeared. I felt confident and right and unstoppable, and I take his words w/ me wherever I go.

The remaining 9 days of that trip were…well, a story to tell. Scenes below.
